SSA Codling will discuss CYBER THREATS IN THE 21ST CENTURY: THE FBI CYBER DIVISION'S RESPONSE.
Given the nature of current cyber threats, the impact of these threats on governmental and private institutions, and the potential for grave damage to national infrastructure, financial systems, and national security in general; the FBI's method of addressing these threats currently and in the future is crucial in our nation's efforts to combat these threats. The cyber environment never stops evolving and expanding. Current criminal laws are grounded in 19th and 20th century legal precedence which do not always translate well to 21st century cyber related problems. The FBI Cyber division is focused on combating cyber based terrorism, hostile intelligence operations conducted over the intranet and a broad array of cyber crime violations. As the nations cyber dependency becomes more profound, the FBI Cyber Division is continuing to evolve to meet these threats.
